Undergraduate Research Assistant - Philibert Lab

The Department of Psychiatry’s Philibert Lab is seeking an Undergraduate Student to provide support for translational epigenetic studies.  This is an ideal job for someone interested in artificial intelligence guided laboratory assessments and treatments.

 

Duties:

Duties will include maintaining lab stocks, updating lab notebooks, processing biological samples (blood and saliva), obtaining DNA concentrations and interfacing with clinical staff. 

Training for all tasks will be provided and opportunities to learn advanced clinical diagnostic techniques such as methylation sensitive digital PCR will also be provided.  

Additional duties include assisting with general lab duties (e.g., wash lab dishware, cleaning/organizing lab materials) or data entry.  

Participation in peer reviewed publications is available and commonly done.

 

Qualifications:

Must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and reliable.

Excellent interpersonal skills both oral and written.

A strong background in biology and chemistry. 

Must be comfortable working with blood and saliva. 

Good computer skills.

Ability to work during the summer break is highly desirable. 

 

Work Schedule: 

10-20 hours per week during academic year and during summer; work flexible hours between 8AM - 5PM; with occasional Saturdays; minimum 10 hours per week.

 

Job Beginning/Ending Dates: immediately to ongoing

 

Rate of Pay: $15 to negotiable per hour
