English Language Development Coordinator
SUMMARY:
The English Language Development Coordinator is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the ELD teacher is to build student capacity and their understanding of English academic/social language and instructional practices. An ELD Coordinator facilitates the implementation of standardized tests that provide essential data that inform and guide student placement. Provide English Language Development for small groups of ELL students. Provide core curriculum instruction as needed. Acts as a resource teacher to regular classroom teachers by assisting them in ELD methodology and curriculum materials selection; and by providing them with appropriate materials for ELL students. Responsible for working effectively with a team of paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents and District office staff with the purpose of providing quality educational services for each and every student, each and every day, without exception.

School Responsibilities Include
- Coordinate closely with the District Coordinator, school principal, & teachers to carry out the mission and vision of the District’s English Language Development (ELD) program.
- Be an ambassador for ELs at the school level.
- Provide insight and coordination for how the ELD plan is implemented and remains consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Coordinate with other consultants and principals to ensure a common message is sent to teachers.
- Contribute to the development of systems and structures for ELD services.
- Work with the principal to manage the ELD budgets.
- Update the District Resource Bank with appropriate accommodations for ELs.
- Attend the ongoing District-wide ELD steering committee meetings on a monthly basis.
- Attend district coaching meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Assist in coordinating school-wide ELD-focused Professional Development.
- Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted on ELD.
- Support new ELD students with screening, identification, and redesignation requirements.
- Coordinate the administration of ACCESS testing and WIDA Screener implementation.
- Provide a clear and safe routine for incoming students in order to provide for academic success.
- Attend transition meetings with ELD teachers for ELs moving from elementary to middle and from middle to high school.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
- Complete all necessary documentation and communication related to ELD student achievement.
School Responsibilities May Include:
- Provide ELD-focused Professional Development for paraprofessionals.
- Support and coach teachers with implementing a language focus in WHHW unit plans.
- Support and coach teachers with curriculum implementation.
- Support schools with data analysis (ACCESS, CMAS, iReady, etc.) and designing next steps for instruction and programming.
- Support teachers with MTSS and GT identification process for ELs.
- Provides coaching on high-quality ELD instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers.
- Provide technical support to collaborative teams within buildings.
General Duties
- Supports the relationship between Garfield School District RE-2 and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and District staff.
- Supports Garfield School District Re-2 goals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
