Student Research Assistant - GIS Data Management Homelessness Hub (Nations) / STDT 3

Job Description: 

The Research Assistant would work with Homelessness Hub to manage data acquisition and storage, especially GIS data, and to support team research efforts relating to spatial and quantitative projects. The RA will work with team members to visualize spatial data and create user-friendly maps to communicate research findings to public audiences. This RA may also support efforts to publicize Homelessness Hub’s work on social media. The RA will work under the supervision of the Homelessness Hub research team. 

Desired Skills

  • Advanced ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online experience 
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Knowledge about homelessness is desired but not required
  • Graphic skills (creating infographics, charts, and figures) are desired but not required. 
  • Ability to work independently and with groups
  • Data science expertise a plus

Job Location:

Mostly remote, occasional in person activities
 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of data science or social science research methodology course, including GIS
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively solve problems
  • Preferred skills: Independent worker and problem solver, high (college level or above) English writing proficiency
  • Must pay UCSD Student Services fees each quarter working


Hours Per Week: 

Approximately 15 per week
 

Pay:

$18/hour
