Rail Fleet Specialist
Quality Transportation Services, Inc., is a customer service driven company headquartered in Mechanicsville, VA which specializes in railway logistics service support for freight shippers across North America. The Rail Fleet Specialist (RFS) is an important full-time role in bringing all the QTS Fleet products and services together to manage the QTS-Client relationship. The RFS works at our headquarters Monday-Friday 8am-5pm serving as a facilitator and problem solver, marshaling resources inside of QTS, at the customer, and the contract repair shops to work in tandem to achieve success.
Primary Duties:
- Primary point of contact for all customer service inquiries and requests for assigned accounts.
- Manage service requests involving the entire shopping process and management of rail equipment.
- Help the customer gets the most out of customer-owned rail equipment.
- Manage cost saving activities in the supply chain by minimizing downtime and other issues.
- Build positive relationships with the customers, railroads, repair shops, and support partners.
- Manage and analyze Contract Repair Shops concerning problem railcars.
- Manage and resolve delays or other repair deviations to their expected maintenance plan.
- Manage communication to customer of any problem cars and suggest/provide corrective action plans.
- Analyze new technical skills to help the customer stay competitive and to help us stay contemporary.
- Manage records of repair work completed, including problem logs, shop logs, and inspection reports.
- Manage reporting and auditing repair bills, rental invoices, and other customer documents.
- Managing the importing and updating regulatory, lease, and mechanical data.
- Communicate with customers about Fleet statuses and other strategic planning.
- Communicate and interact on behalf of the customer with Contract Repair Shop and support partners.
SKILLS:
- Strong data-entry skills (keyboard and 10-key) and attention to detail.
- Ability to work unsupervised using independent judgment.
- Excellent telephone skills, as well as grammar, spelling, and written communication proficiency.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications required and including Excel and Pivot Table
- Critical thinking skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to ensure efficient and effective use of time and resources.
- Basic knowledge of Spanish and/or French helpful.
- Knowledge of DOT/AAR regulations helpful
- Rail knowledge helpful
- Mechanical aptitude helpful
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or University
- 1-3 years of experience in customer service, transportation, or logistics desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Analytical and problem-solving skills helpful.
- Logistics: 1 year is preferred
