Spiritual Life Director

Job Title:  Spiritual Life Director

Job Status:  Full-Time, 12 Months

Exempt Status: Exempt

Department:  Spiritual Life

Reports to:   Head of School
 

Job Summary 

In close collaboration with the Head of School, the spiritual life vision and direction for TKA will be established. The primary responsibility of the Spiritual Life Director is to execute that vision in order to lead students to become fully devoted followers of Christ.
 

Essential Job Functions

Direction, Vision and Leading

  • Leadership, mentorship, oversight, and support of the Spiritual Life team 
  • Provides overall spiritual direction for the school, while representing the Spiritual Life function.
  • Planning and oversight of Spiritual Life initiatives: including chapels, retreats, service trips, home groups, and other discipleship programs 
  • Active management of the Spiritual Life team 
  • Oversee the departmental budget
  • Model servant leadership and cast vision 
  • Provide pastoral care to students and staff to cultivate a culture of connection
  • Develop and maintain enduring relationships by attending various after-school student activities
  • Demonstrate a consistent, visible presence on campus through regular walk-abouts and meaningful engagement with students and employees
  • Support Biblical Worldview Immersion and provide theological guidance aligned with the School’s Statement of Faith
  • Collaborate across divisions and departments to integrate discipleship into a cohesive, school-wide program, ensuring a holistic and aligned approach to student spiritual formation.
     

Event Programming, Planning and Teaching

  • In collaboration with the Spiritual Life team, plan and execute K–12 spiritual programming
  • Works in close relation with Student Governance, Deans, and Principals
  • Lead, champion, and mobilize the Student Vanguard leadership program
    • Teaching responsibilities may include teaching up to one Vanguard class

Committee Involvement

  • A-Team Member (Executive Leadership Team), Spiritual Life Committee
  • Long-Range Planning Committee, Admissions Committee, Service Trip and Retreat Committees


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Bible, Theology, or Divinity preferred
  • Pastoral or youth ministry, Young Life experience preferred

  • Leadership and Organizational Philosophies

 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
  • Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with teenagers and draw them close to Christ
  • Able to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent skills in Leadership, Organizational Management, Counseling
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to learn new computer software systems

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Required to use the computer throughout the day
  • Frequently communicates with students, parents and colleagues throughout the day
  • Work will be performed from the campus
  • Will move throughout the campus during the day
  • May occasionally have to lift up to 20-pounds
  • Work is generally performed year-round, Monday-Friday from generally  7:00am to 3:30pm
    • This position will occasionally require you to work nights, weekends and overnights (for trips/events). As much advance notice as possible will be provided
    • The hours are estimates based on a normal school day, but the hours will vary based on the school calendar and associated activities, events and trips

  • Pay Grid: Spiritual Life Director     
  • Pay Grid Range: $112,930 to $158,160
    • Salary is based on a preset pay grid and determined by education and experience; Most candidates enter in the lower to middle range.
