We are looking for a highly motivated, organized, boots-on-the-ground individual to help plan and execute some of our public-facing events. 

This is a position with lots of variety and an opportunity to learn more about event planning, production, and management. Applicant must have access to reliable transportation and a computer.

Who we are: Los Padres ForestWatch is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to protect wildlife, wilderness, water, and sustainable access throughout the Los Padres National Forest and the Carrizo Plain National Monument. We achieve this through education, advocacy, and when necessary, legal action for the benefit of our communities, climate, and future generations.

When: March - November 2026

Location: Some work from our office in Santa Barbara, some from home, some boots-on-the-ground at events in various locations in Ojai, Santa Barbara and other areas of the Central Coast.

Hours: 5-10 hours per week - varied depending on schedule and event needs, weekend hours sometimes needed

Compensation: $1,000 per 10 week period(s), pro-rated for partial

Duties: Can range from assistance with planning, preparing materials (name tags, check-in lists, gift bags) to day-of event assistance such as set up/clean up and/or guest and volunteer management, picking up materials, etc. In addition, assistance with solicitation of donations for food, drink, and/or silent auction items may also be required.

Skills: Basic computer, communication, and people skills

Some of our events in 2026 include:

• Forest Academy - a four-part outdoor education series focusing on Flora and Fauna in the Los Padres National Forest in various locations with expert guides
• Wilderness Table - two different high level culinary/wine dinners in an outdoor environment where guests enjoy local cuisine in a unique setting
• Raptor Experience - a learning experience and picnic in Ojai
• Silent Auction - held online in Sept/Oct
• Donor appreciation cocktail/dinner events - celebrating with our top donors in Santa Barbara and also Ojai
