Objective of the Position
Assists the Operations and Manufacturing Engineering teams by supporting day-to-day plant operations, process optimization, and production improvement activities. Gains hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while contributing to operational efficiency and launch readiness.
Essential Accountabilities: the position incumbent ensures, that
Provides engineering and administrative support to Operations and Manufacturing Engineering teams
Assists with data collection and analysis related to production efficiency, scrap, downtime, and throughput
Supports process improvement and manufacturing optimization initiatives
Assists in documenting manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
Supports production launches, line modifications, and process validations
Updates production reports, charts, and department data
May be assigned special projects depending on length and scope of internship
Secondary Accountabilities: the position incumbent ensures, that
Conducts all business-related activities for, and on behalf of, Purem within applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements
Supports compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in all engineering-related tasks
Supports plant compliance with IATF 16949 and applicable ISO standards
Other duties as assigned
Requirement Profile
Professional Background / Basic Qualification / Work Experience:
Student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field)
Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD or manufacturing systems preferred
Ability to travel domestically by car if required
Strong work ethic; dependable, hands-on, and eager to learn
Ability to apply engineering concepts learned in school to a manufacturing environment
Technical Expertise:
Ability to apply mathematical and engineering concepts, including basic calculations and data analysis
Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and procedures
Analytical skills to collect, organize, and interpret production and process data
Familiarity with continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma concepts preferred
Methodical Competence:
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment
Adaptability to changing priorities, schedules, and operational needs
Demonstrates strong organizational skills and accountability
Problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in teams
Commitment to continuous improvement and skill development

Ability to work with minimal supervision while collaborating with operators, engineers, and management

This position does not supervise other employees
Working Conditions
This position involves working in both office and manufacturing plant environments. The intern may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, noise, heat, fumes, and other plant-related conditions.
