Corporate Management Trainee

We operate 19 branch locations and 13 showrooms throughout Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
Function: The Corporate Trainee is required to complete a minimum of 12 months of the training program. To gain an understanding of how the company operates as a whole. Responsible for developing sales, management, customer service, and professional skills in the route to a specialized position at PDI.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Gain an understanding of PDI’s Operational Functions by completing rotations in the Receiving, Shipping, Inventory Control, Dispatch/Delivery, and Transfers Departments.
- Gain field experience with individual departments working with Inbound/Outbound, Freight, Receiving, Order Picking, Returns, Inventory Control, Quality Control, and Transfers.
- Become proficient in all aspects of PDI’s sales by working in all the sales channels.
- Working with the inside and outside teams within the Commercial Plumbing, Residential Plumbing, Residential Lighting, eCommerce, and Showroom Sales channels.
- Learn about product lines and applications through off-site and on-site vendor training.
- Building relationships with existing and prospective customers to facilitate sales growth.
- Must attend all training sessions during the initial 14-15-month training period at various PDI and offsite locations, with an additional period of 3-4 months in a specialized area; dependent on progress and experience, and career path.
- Participate in regular review sessions with the Training Manager and Rotation Manager for an understanding of progress through each rotation and to understand opportunities for growth and areas of strength.
- Gain a basic understanding of the major corporate functions by spending time with the Purchasing/Demand Planning, Pricing, and Accounting Departments.
- Gain an expert-level knowledge of the PDI ERP System.
- Gather critical job-specific knowledge from different employees in different departments.
- Complete all assigned training successfully and in a timely manner.
- Learn to effectively communicate with different departments and all levels of management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- You are expected to fulfill the above guidelines, cooperate with all PDI associates, and contribute to the TEAM SPIRIT.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Degree preferred.
- Effective Leadership Skills
- Effective Interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proficient in basic computing (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Wholesale distribution or retail sales experience preferred but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work at any PDI location for any period.
- Must be willing to move within 45 miles of any branch if you are assigned as a manager or assistant manager for that location.
- Must be flexible to live anywhere within the Southeast United States.
