Social Media & Digital Strategy (Intern)

Location: Manhattan, NY (Chelsea / Hudson Yards) – in-office preferred with some remote flexibility
Type: Part-time internship, 15–40 hours per week
Duration: 10–12 weeks with potential to extend or convert
Compensation: $25 per hour, depending on experience

About Dakota Group

Dakota Group is a fast-growing logistics and trucking compliance startup supporting carriers and fleets nationwide. We build internal tools, manage filings, and run complex operations that keep freight moving — and we’re scaling our brand and digital presence to match our growth.

At Dakota Group, you’ll work alongside a full in-house team spanning finance, operations, content journalism, design, engineering, and product. We primarily use Figma for design but are flexible with whatever tools you need to create assets efficiently. Our digital footprint is expanding across Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, and more,  all ready to launch. 

We have a large content backlog and need a social media specialist to help amplify our internal blog pieces and partner with our in-house journalist and COO on a weekly newsletter. You’ll also gain experience collaborating directly with the Google team in Hudson Yards, who manage our Google Ads strategy and produce YouTube content based on our brand direction.

What you’ll do

  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality social media posts, graphics, and short-form videos for LinkedIn, Instagram, and other key channels
  • Campaign Strategy: Assist in building paid and organic campaigns, from ideation to execution and performance review
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track performance metrics (impressions, CTR, engagement, follower growth) and present weekly reports to leadership
  • Website & SEO Support: Help refresh landing pages, write copy, and coordinate with design/engineering for updates
  • Brand Decks & Pitch Assets: Build digital decks, sales one-pagers, and visual assets for marketing and recruiting
  • Community Engagement: Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and audience interactions in a professional and timely way

Ad Hoc Marketing Support: Support email campaigns, newsletter builds, and digital ad setup when needed

Ideal Candidates

  • Detail-oriented and creative, with a strong eye for design and branding consistency
  • Comfortable with content tools such as Canva, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite,  or equivalent
  • Eager to learn video, text, and other forms of optimal social media platform strategy
  • Proficient with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) — strong formatting and organizational skills
  • Understanding of digital marketing fundamentals: SEO, paid social, Google Ads, and analytics
  • Confident in building decks and presenting digital campaign results
  • Bonus: experience with HubSpot, Google Analytics, and ad platforms (Meta, Google, LinkedIn)

  • Social channels are consistently updated with polished, engaging content
  • Weekly digital performance reports delivered cleanly and on time
  • Campaigns set up correctly with clear tracking and KPIs
  • Decks, one-pagers, and digital assets that can be used directly by CEO, CFO, and marketing leads
