Orthodontist Needed

Wisdom Dental Group is looking for a ORTHODONTIST to join our thriving group dental practice located in Excelsior Springs, MO (a suburb of Kansas City, MO).  New grads are welcome to apply.  The orthodontist will be expected to do the following:

• Conduct comprehensive patient examinations — Assess teeth, jaws, bite (occlusion), and facial structure to identify malocclusions, crowding, spacing, or other abnormalities.
• Diagnose orthodontic conditions — Interpret X-rays (including cephalometric and panoramic), dental impressions, photographs, models, and other diagnostic records to determine issues with tooth position, jaw alignment, and growth patterns.
• Develop and implement customized treatment plans — Create individualized strategies for correcting alignment, bite problems, and jaw discrepancies, including timelines and appliance selection.
• Fit and apply orthodontic appliances — Place traditional metal or ceramic braces, clear aligners (e.g., Invisalign), retainers, palatal expanders, headgear, space maintainers, and other devices.
• Perform adjustments and modifications — Regularly tighten wires, change elastics, adjust brackets, repair broken appliances, and make necessary changes during follow-up visits to guide teeth movement.
• Monitor treatment progress — Track patient development over time through periodic evaluations, progress records, and adjustments to ensure goals are met efficiently.
• Manage retention phase— Design and fit retainers (fixed or removable) to maintain results after active treatment and prevent relapse.
• Handle orthodontic emergencies — Address issues like broken brackets, loose wires, pokey wires, or discomfort promptly to minimize interruptions.
• Collaborate with other professionals — Coordinate with general dentists, oral surgeons, pediatric dentists, or other specialists for interdisciplinary care (e.g., extractions, jaw surgery prep, or restorative needs).
• Educate patients and families — Provide instructions on oral hygiene with appliances, dietary restrictions, proper care of devices, and expectations throughout treatment.
• Maintain accurate records — Document patient history, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes for legal, insurance, and continuity purposes.

Wisdom Dental Group is a multi-doctor, multi-specialty group dental practice.  Besides general dentistry, we also have the big three specialties in-house- orthodontics, pediatrics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.  In-house sedation is also offered for adults and children by a third-party independent contractor.
