ELA/ English Teacher (Fixed-Part Time)

PopSmart Academy is a Greater Seattle–area learning center dedicated to empowering K-12 students through writing, science, and public speaking programs. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join their educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong rapport with children and the ability to teach both elementary and middle school students. This role requires a deep understanding of vocabulary, English writing, and descriptive language to effectively communicate and educate students. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet educational standards and the needs of students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive educational experience.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to build strong rapport with children.
  • Experience teaching elementary and middle school students.
  • In-depth knowledge of vocabulary, English writing, and descriptive language.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or relevant credentials.
  • Previous experience in a classroom setting.

Schedule & Compensation

~10–15 hours per week with flexible scheduling outside of key family times. Fixed part-time salary equivalent to $25–$27/hour depending on experience. W-2 part-time employee, includes WA state sick leave accrual.
