Science Teacher (Fixed-Part Time)
PopSmart Academy is a Greater Seattle–area learning center dedicated to empowering K-12 students through writing, science, and public speaking programs. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our team on a part-time contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a natural ability to connect with children and a passion for teaching science to elementary and middle school students. This role involves fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning through hands-on experiments and engaging lesson plans.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate science lesson plans that align with educational standards.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages exploration, inquiry, and collaboration.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including experiments, projects, and multimedia resources, to accommodate different learning styles.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to guide their academic growth.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom culture, inspiring students to excel in science.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
Requirements:
- Proven ability to build strong rapport with children.
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students.
- Strong knowledge of core science concepts and teaching methodologies.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Creativity, patience, and a passion for making science fun and engaging.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or relevant credentials.
- Previous classroom teaching experience.
Schedule & Compensation
~10–15 hours per week with flexible scheduling outside of key family times. Fixed part-time salary equivalent to $25–$27/hour depending on experience. W-2 part-time employee, includes WA state sick leave accrual.
