Vision & Call Theatre Production Intern

Taproot Theatre Company’s “Vision & Call” Internship Program is sponsored by the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust for the primary purpose of increasing the pool of talented emerging leaders entering non-profit careers, and for the secondary purpose of mentoring early career artists and empowering them to pursue their specific calling. The “Vision & Call” intern positions are open to any theatre student or early career theatre professional who seeks to acquire new skills and experience within a non-profit theatre organization.  Applicants do not need to profess the Christian faith or any specific faith identity, but should be comfortable discussing topics of art, faith, calling, and creation.  Selection will be based on the applicant’s career goals, professionalism, and availability.

This internship is for theatre students and/or early career theatre professionals who have an interest in learning more about theatre production. Over the course of 36 weeks, June 2026-May 2027 this intern will assist with projects and tasks related to show productions for Taproot’s Acting Studio and Jewell Mainstage Theatre. In addition to hands-on learning with Taproot Theatre’s Production Team, the Theatre Production Intern will also commit to weekly mentoring sessions designed to explore the interns’ artistic identity and sense of calling, as well as assist the intern in identifying next steps in pursuing their career goals.

Schedule: June 2026-May 2027
The “Vision & Call” internship experience will be divided into three “quarters” according to the following schedule. 

  • 1st Quarter (11 weeks scheduled between June 15-August 28)
    • Production Intern: Assist Education & Outreach Production Support (10hrs/week)
  • 2nd Quarter (10 weeks, scheduled between October 2-December 18)
    Note: Mandatory attendance at the Murdock Charitable Trust Intern Retreat Oct 3-Oct 5
    • Production Intern: Assist Production Team (10hrs/week)
  • 3rd Quarter (15 weeks, scheduled between February 9-May 22)
    • Production Intern: Assist Production Team (10hrs/week)

Additional Requirements: 

  • Vision & Call interns will also be required to attend a “Vision & Call” retreat (hosted by M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust) on October 2 – 4, 2026. Travel costs and other expenses for this retreat will be paid by Taproot Theatre Company.
  • Vision & Call Interns will be asked to submit a reflection paper and a self-study project at the end of their internship experience.
