South Coast AQMD is seeking detail-oriented and highly motivated Governing Board Interns to join our team this summer. This is an exciting opportunity for students who would like to gain meaningful experience while protecting the health of all the residents in the South Coast Air District through practical and innovative strategies. The ideal candidates will serve as lead workers, supporting staff, coordinating office activities, and learning new processes within the agency.

Position Overview
As a Governing Board Intern, students work alongside air quality and public sector professionals at one of the nation’s leading environmental regulatory agencies. Interns are placed across a variety of operational offices, ranging from engineering, science, and compliance to communications, legal, and finance, gaining practical experience that supports South Coast AQMD’s mission to protect public health and improve air quality in Southern California. The program runs for 7- or 11-weeks during summer 2026 and includes orientation, professional development, and exposure to real-world environmental policy and operations.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled college/university students (undergraduate and graduate level), available to work 28 hours per week, from May 26, 2026, through August 7, 2026 (11-week program) or June 23, 2026 through August 7, 2026 (7-week program), and at least 18 years of age.

Salary
- Salary: $20.00/hour
