RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Holbrook Center TA teaches and evaluates undergraduate students using previously established laboratory activities in some of the following courses, dependent on TA background: HP 363 Science of Strength and Conditioning, HP 314 Physiology of Exercise, HP 439 Nutrition for Sport and Activity, HP 431 Biomechanics, and/or HP 466 Graded Exercise Testing & Prescription.
Other responsibilities:
- Hold office hours for student questions.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Assist in grading additional courses.
- Graduate assistants may be required to perform non-teaching departmental service assignments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last two years of undergraduate work.
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess high potential for graduate study in one of the specializations in the Department of Human Performance.
- Teaching, lab equipment, or instructional experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
