SSTC_AI Robotics Systems and Multimodal Perception Integration Intern (A000)
This internship is in ITRI's Service Systems Technology Center(SSTC).
Intern will work on the following topics / tasks:
- Develop intelligent robotic control systems, including designing AI-based control algorithms, implementing middleware, and building robotic control modules using ROS for autonomous robotic platforms.
- Build and integrate multi‑modal perception systems, including models for object recognition, scene understanding, event detection, and human–robot interaction to enhance environmental awareness.
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced AI models, applying LLMs, VLMs, LBMs, and related large models to robotic vision, tactile sensing, speech recognition, behavior learning, and prediction. Deploy AI models onto Edge AI devices for real-time robotic applications.
- Lead AI‑driven robotic automation implementation, including application workflow design, parameter tuning, behavior policy optimization, and integration with industrial automation systems to accomplish end‑to‑end technology deployment.
Qualifications:
- Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
- More than 3 years of hands‑on experience in developing or deploying autonomous mobile robots, collaborative robots, automation systems for logistics/manufacturing environments, or Edge AI solutions.
- Practical experience in multimodal perception AI technologies, such as object recognition, tracking, multi‑view integration, spatial understanding, and speech/vision fusion.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN, OPC UA), multimodal localization technologies (Visual‑Inertial SLAM, LiDAR SLAM), middleware‑based control, and the ability to integrate AI modules.
- Strong motivation to learn, with the ability to write technical documentation and collaborate effectively within a team.
