Lab Summary: The Standards & Mobility Innovation team is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users. Our research focuses on:
- Wireless standards and technology including 5G/6G, Wi-Fi, FiRa/UWB, MPEG, AOM, CSA Matter, CSA ACWG, CCC, etc
- RF & fast prototyping of 5G and IEEE 802 wireless systems and/or use cases
- Multimedia standards and technology including VR, HDR, All-IP delivery
- IoT standards and Smart Home connectivity/sensing technology
Position Summary: Join the SMI lab of Samsung Research America to contribute to the development of Samsung's vision of next generation of wireless communication technology.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on applying AI/ML techniques to Radio Access Network (RAN) optimization
- Design and implement AI/ML-based algorithms for key AI-RAN use cases including channel estimation, channel prediction, resource allocation and etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into wireless systems, and evaluate end-to-end performance with AI-in-the-loop simulations or prototyping
- Prepare technical reports, and presentations on research findings
Required Skills:
- Currently pursuing a PhD in EE/ECE or a related field
- Deep understanding of AI/ML algorithms (e.g. MLP, CNN, RNN, transformer, Mamba), and statistical learning methods (e.g. decision tree, RF, SVM etc.)
- Excellent working knowledge using Python and Python based ML modules such as Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch and Pandas libraries
- Have prior experience developing AI/ML algorithms for solving challenging problems preferably in wireless communication system design
- Experience with RAN simulation tools or platform such as NVIDIA Sionna/ PyAerial
- Strong foundation in RAN technologies (e.g. LTE, 5G NR, MIMO, OFDM etc.)
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and in writing
