As a focused member of the Summer Support Staff team, the Lead Musician & Social Media Manager will be responsible for selecting, preparing, and leading worship songs at Morning Prayer, Compline, and the closing Eucharist at each camp session, as well as offering classic camp songs around the campfire. This talented and creative person will also be responsible for taking photos and videos throughout each camp session, which they will then use to a) regularly update Cathedral Ridge's social media pages (Instagram and Facebook) and b) prepare a slide show for the end of each camp session to celebrate and recognize God's presence throughout the program. While this position involves facilitating program offerings, the Lead Musician & Social Media Manager will not be directly responsible for supervising children.
Responsibilities/Duties
Music
- Working in cooperation with the Program Director, consult with the Chaplain and Teacher before each session about the music needs for the camp session: new songs, requests, etc.
- Create a music program for designated worship times.
- Lead singing time as requested by the Chaplain.
- Schedule regular time to rehearse the music for camp sessions and include other musicians from camp or session staff as may be beneficial.
- Keep song books and prayer books in good shape, collect them when not in use, and have them available on site when needed.
Social Media
- Work with the Program Director, Chaplain, and Teacher to record key events each session.
- Organize and photograph an All Camp Photo at each session.
- Organize and photograph a Cabin Photo at all youth camp sessions.
- Prepare a slideshow compilation of photos and videos from the session for the closing ceremony each week.
- Provide branding & material for regular posts on social media outlets using the Camps & Conferences Media & Marketing Guidelines.
- Must be aware of and abide by parental permissions on Photo Release Forms.
- Maintain an organized digital filing system for media from each session, which can be sent out to campers and their families.
As a member of the Summer Support Staff team, the Lead Musician and Social Media Manager may be asked to assist with various tasks around the property and to help implement aspects of the Camp Program as needed and as time permits with the duties and responsibilities outlined above.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older to apply
- Must be physically able to manage potentially strenuous environments (hiking, climbing, kayaking, etc.)
- Must be able to play a musical instrument and sing on-pitch in front of groups
- Must be comfortable operating media technology such as phones, cameras, computers, televisions, and social media applications
- Must maintain a professional and positive attitude with all coworkers and guests at all times
This position is seasonal, and hours will vary by week depending on camp schedule.
