Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Summer Theatre Arts Training Teaching Assistant for our summer programming.  This is a temporary summer position with a Monday through Friday schedule, starting on June 3, 2026, with employment continuing until August 21, 2026. This role will likely average 40 hours per week.  This temporary role is not benefit-eligible.

The Teaching Assistant role requires someone who works well with children, is collaborative, customer/student focused, and who has the ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist/anti-bias organization.  Applicants for this role should have robust problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking skills.

ABOUT THEATRE ARTS TRAINING (TAT)

CTC’s Theatre Arts Training (TAT) program provides high-quality process-based theatre education to students ages 5-18 with beginning through pre-professional offerings. TAT offers Fall, Winter, and Spring class sessions, school break and summer camps, audition workshops, a four-year high school training program, and two productions each year. As Inclusion is a core value to CTC, TAT makes intentional programmatic choices to ensure access and representation for people of all ability, ethnicity, economic statues, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

POSITION SUMMARY

Teaching Assistants are responsible for assisting the lead teaching team for summer camps. CTC has camps in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.  Responsible for facilitation of extended care programming and class preparation including assisting the lead teaching team with curriculum development, small group work, and classroom management.  Responsible for monitoring student arrivals and departures and implementing safety procedures. Responsible for additional office and administrative tasks as assigned. Teaching Assistants may be given opportunities to solo-lead classroom activities under supervision and guidance from CTC teaching or administration staff.

Teaching Assistants may be assigned to camps at our Minneapolis or Saint Paul locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assisting Education Department/programming

  • Initiate and implement vision for TAT programs building on existing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Collaborate with Associate Teaching Artists to support the needs of the classrooms
  • Assist education staff with office and administrative tasks as assigned
  • Facilitate programming for extended care and sensory break room
  • Assist in adjustments to program content for each classroom

 

Collaborate with all staff in the furtherance of CTC’s goal of being an anti-racist/anti-bias theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

  • Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist and/or biased workplace practices and policies
  • Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in youth programming and/or theatre education
  • Demonstrated skill in relating to and communicating with youth

 

Certificates & Licenses

CPR/AED/First Aid Certification; training is provided for candidates who do not already possess this certification

COMPENSATION

The starting pay for this part-time position is $17.00 per hour.  Benefits include sick and safe leave and the ability to contribute to a 403(b)-retirement savings plan.
