Biostatistics Intern

This position will be for Spring 2026

 

If you have a passion for advancing healthcare and want to learn more about the pharmaceutical industry, meet PharPoint!  Awarded the Triangle Business Journal Best Places to Work for 2023 & 2024, we help clients with their clinical trials, providing high quality services.  We are currently seeking an Biostatistics & Statistical Programming Intern to work in our Durham or Wilmington, NC office.  This internship will be approximately 20 hours per week.

In this internship you will participate in the project specific programming for clinical trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set forth by PharPoint Research, Inc. and its sponsor clients.

What you will do: 

  • Participate in the programming, validation, and documentation of statistical programs used in creating datasets and statistical displays based on specifications provided.
  • Provide support in the generation and review of statistical documents such as TFL mock-ups, derived variable specifications, and sample size calculations and documentation.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of analyses, data reporting, and project activities executed.
  • Complete work within known time constraints.
  • Communicate accurate and timely status updates to other project team members and department management.
  • Actively adapt and adjust priorities to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Execute multiple assignments within assigned timeline for completion.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Understand and comply with all company policies and SOPs.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Interns will participate in the programming and validation of summary tables, data listings, and analysis datasets based on instruction received. Interns will execute assignments within assigned timeline for completion and communicate accurate and timely status updates to other project team members and department management.

By the successful conclusion of this internship, the student will be able to…

- Understand good programming practices

- Have a basic understanding of the SAS environment and language

- be able to create a well-organized RTF file with SAS

- be able to do basic data manipulation

- import excel files into a SAS database

- have basic knowledge of CRO terminology

- successfully communicate in an office environment

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:  High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) working towards a Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience:  None
  • Certification/Licensure:  None
  • Other:  Effective oral and written communication of statistical concepts and results required. Effective team player: willingness to go the extra distance to get results, meet deadlines, etc. Able to manage conflicting priorities, and to be flexible when priorities change. Knowledge of one or more statistical software packages used to conduct statistical analyses preferred.
