Curatorial, Digital Innovation and Research Intern

Institution Lab is looking for curatorial and research interns with passion and commitment to launch our new digital cultural platform and museum!

Institution is a cultural association headquartered in the Italian region Emilia–Romagna that promotes a new artistic institution model, aimed at combining research and experimentation with popularity and participation. The association aims, through mixing the arts and research on important social issues, to implement a kind of revolution in which the arts are seen as tools for understanding the world.

Institution Lab is led by our internationally recognized curator and director, Fabio Cavallucci.  Some of the most important protagonists in the world of culture have been involved in Institution's initiatives, such as Nicolas Bourriaud, Maurizio Cattelan, Timothy Morton, Charles Esche, Ute Meta Bauer, Zigeng Wang and Hans Ulrich Obrist

Institution Lab is now looking for a team of interns to help with many different activities (research, production of texts and videos, promotion, fundraising) and to support the activities of its educational branch, Institution School

What will you do? 
 

  • Prepare releases, posts, and documents using our custom CMS.
  • Research works and contact artists to add onto our platform. 
  • Write grant applications, engage in fundraising and crowdfunding campaigns
  • Liaise and meet with artists, curators, and international art world personalities.
  • Learn curatorial skills from one of the most recognized curators in the world.
  • Begin working on our physical museum space in NYC.

 

The volunteer period must last at least 4 months. Internship is remote but you are invited to our offices in Italy, New York and China. An official certificate describing your commitment to the activity carried out which may give you credit. Our interns will be given a chance to transition to contract and full time work when the physical institution opens and will be able to provide letters to any credit granting schools

Acceptance to the volunteering period is subject to an entrance test. We accept interns who speak English or Italian or Chinese. If you are interested, please apply on handshake.
