IT Support Specialist I

This position provides frontline support to students, faculty and staff; assisting with efficient and reliable solutions to help the LLCC college community to succeed. This position will be located at LLCC main campus in Springfield, IL.

As a staff member at LLCC, you can look forward to 23 paid holidays a year, including 2 weeks at the end of the calendar year and one week in March for mid-semester break; 12 Fridays off in the summer; and 2 personal days, 15 sick days, and starting with 10 vacation days per year. LLCC staff, their spouse and qualified dependent children are eligible to use the tuition waiver on credited courses. Staff can also enjoy free access to our on-campus fitness center. Starting salary will be within one of the three ranges below based on skills, experience and training as defined. There is a defined career progression for this position. Level progression will be based on experience, skills mastered and training/education obtained.

I: Entry level, foundational knowledge and experience $48,203 – $63,327
II: 3+ years experience, intermediate knowledge, advanced desktop support experience $51,911-$68,589
III: 5+ years experience, advanced desktop support experience, experience in systems management/administration, demonstrated leadership abilities $55,976-$74,216

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Information Technology or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • One or more years of relevant work experience in enterprise IT
  • Experience supporting end users remotely as well as in-person
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technology
  • Customer-focused attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Possess (or obtain within 6 months of employment) and maintain a valid and current CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Valid driver’s license
