Summer 2026 | Seasonal Position
Reports to: Director of Education, Camp Manager
Position Overview
The Summer Camp Coordinator is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day execution of Columbus Children’s Theatre’s summer camp programs. The Camp Coordinator is an on-site leader who supports teaching artists, adventure guides, campers, and families while ensuring daily schedules, activities, and transitions run smoothly.
This role is ideal for an organized, people-centered professional who thrives in active environments and enjoys supporting both staff and youth.
Schedule & Duration:
Camp weeks run June 1 - August 7, 2026
No camp the week of June 29 - July 3
The position includes pre-camp preparation, full-time summer camp weeks, and post-camp wrap-up.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Camp Operations
Execute daily schedules and ensure smooth transitions between activities
Support room readiness, materials distribution, and daily logistics
Troubleshoot day-to-day challenges and escalate larger concerns to the Camp Manager
Staff Support
Provide direct, in-the-moment support to teaching artists and counselors
Model positive classroom management and professional communication
Assist with staff onboarding, training sessions, and feedback
Camper & Family Experience
Serve as a primary on-site point of contact for families during camp hours
Support check-in/check-out procedures and attendance tracking
Respond to camper needs with care, consistency, and age-appropriate problem-solving
Safety & Environment
Monitor safety practices and support staff in implementing protocols
Respond to minor incidents and report concerns to the Camp Manager
Collaboration
Work closely with the Summer Office Assistant on attendance, materials, and communication
Collaborating with the Education Coordinator when supporting satellite camps
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Experience working with children in a camp, classroom, or youth program setting
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment
Comfort supporting staff and managing day-to-day logistics
CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to camp)
Ability to pass a background check
Preferred:
Background in theatre, arts education, or creative youth development
Experience in supporting or supervising teaching artists, counselors, or interns
Interest in nonprofit or arts-education environments
Compensation
Commensurate with experience
This is a seasonal position with paid pre-camp preparation and post-camp wrap-up hours.
