Summer Camp Manager
Position Overview
The Summer Camp Manager provides senior seasonal leadership for all Columbus Children’s Theatre summer camp programs, serving campers ages 5-15 across on-site camps at the Naghten Theatre and multiple satellite locations. Working closely with the Director of Education, the Camp Manager oversees staffing, systems, policies, and operations to ensure camps are safe, well-run, mission-aligned, and artistically excellent.
The Camp Manager directly supervises camp coordinator(s), teaching artists, and adventure guides and works collaboratively with the Education Coordinator and Summer Office Assistant to support smooth daily execution.
This role includes pre-camp planning, full-time oversight during camp weeks, and post-camp evaluation and wrap-up.
Schedule & Duration
Camp weeks run June 1 - August 7, 2026
No camp the week of June 29 - July 3
The position includes pre-camp preparation, full-time summer camp weeks, and post-camp wrap-up.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning and operational oversight for all summer camps, including schedules, staffing models, and site logistics
Hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate Camp Coordinators and camp staff in coordination with the Director of Education
Serve as the primarily escalation point for safety concerns, staffing issues, and parent/guardian communications
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and organizational policies across all sites
Oversee systems for attendance, documentation, and communication
Collaborate with the Education Coordinator to ensure alignment at satellite camp sites
Lead post-camp evaluations and contribute recommendations for future seasons
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Demonstrated experience managing youth programs, camps, or educational initiatives
Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff
Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Experience handling parent communication and issue escalation
Ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and timelines
CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to camp)
Ability to pass a background check
Preferred:
Background in theatre, arts education, or creative youth programming
Experience working in nonprofit or arts-education organizations
Familiarity with registration systems, scheduling tools, or program logistics
Experience collaborating with senior leadership on planning and evaluation
Compensation:
Compensation commensurate with experience and scope of responsibility
