Wax Chemistry Intern

R&D Intern – Wax Chemistry and Materials (Waxallurgy)

Overview
The R&D Intern – Wax Chemistry and Materials will join Shamrock’s Research & Development team and focus on the modification, combination, and alloying of waxes with other materials using microchemistry techniques. This position provides hands-on laboratory experience under the mentorship of an R&D sponsor, while encouraging increasing independence in experimental planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage daily laboratory activities to achieve defined project milestones and objectives
  • Apply fundamental chemistry principles to modify and alloy wax-based materials
  • Use appropriate analytical and experimental techniques to generate, analyze, and interpret data
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and project documentation
  • Prepare periodic summaries and present findings to senior R&D staff
  • Learn and apply new laboratory techniques as needed to support project success

  • Gain practical experience in wax modification, alloying concepts, and formulation chemistry
  • Develop proficiency in laboratory experimentation, data interpretation, and technical documentation

Qualifications

  • Current sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Chemistry or a related field
  • Completion of Organic Chemistry coursework (or higher)
  • Hands-on experience with basic chemistry laboratory techniques through coursework or prior work experience
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and proper record keeping
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
