Content and Partnership Intern (PR & SEO Focus)

Location: Remote / Hybrid

Company: Mountary Partner Network

About Mountary

Mountary is on a mission to empower independent frame stores. We provide local, high-quality craftspeople with a robust online presence and the digital tools they need to compete with national big-box retailers. When you join Mountary, you aren't just joining a startup; you’re supporting a network of small businesses across the country.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive Intern with a background in Journalism, Public Relations, or Interior Design to join our team. This role is twofold: you will establish Mountary as a thought leader in the home decor space and execute tactical SEO strategies to boost the visibility of our local partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build & Manage the Mountary Interior Design Panel

Identify Opportunities: Monitor platforms like Connectively (formerly HARO), Featured.com, and Twitter to find journalists seeking expert commentary on interior design, home styling, and custom framing.

Pitching: Ghostwrite and pitch quotes on behalf of our design panel to major shelter magazines (e.g., AD, Elle Decor, Apartment Therapy) and news outlets.

Panel Growth: Research and recruit emerging interior designers to join our expert network.

2. Local SEO & Backlink Outreach

Community Engagement: Identify local news organizations, non-profits, schools, and business associations in the neighborhoods of our network members.

Link Building: Reach out to these organizations to secure "backlinks"—helping our local framers' websites rank higher on Google by highlighting their community involvement or expert services.

Storytelling: Craft compelling "shop local" narratives to convince editors to feature our partner stores.

Who You Are

The Connector: You aren't afraid to send a cold email or pick up the phone. You know how to build rapport quickly.

The Storyteller: You have a "nose for news." You can take a simple frame and explain why it’s the most important part of a room’s design.

Design-Obsessed: You have a keen eye for aesthetics and understand the current trends in the interior design world.

Detail-Oriented: You can manage multiple outreach campaigns at once without losing track of your follow-ups.

Qualifications

Current student or recent graduate in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or Interior Design.

Excellent written communication skills (the ability to write punchy, persuasive pitches is a must).

Basic understanding of SEO and why "backlinks" matter (or a strong desire to learn).

Familiarity with the media landscape and how journalists source experts.

Why Join Us?

Real Impact: See your work directly result in increased sales for small, family-owned businesses.

Portfolio Building: Get your writing (and your pitches) published in recognized media outlets.

Mentorship: Work directly with the Mountary leadership team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Would you like me to refine the "Qualifications" section to be more specific to a certain year of study, or perhaps add a section about the expected weekly hourly commitment?
