Position Summary & Essential Duties

The function of the role in the Microbiology Prep Lab is to prepare all the bulk media and supplies for the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology laboratory classes, which include General Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Food and Dairy Microbiology, Parasitology, Virology, Immunology and Microbial Genetics. The prep lab also prepares media for some of the Biology classes. The Prep Lab is located in the Microbiology Building and is managed/supervised by Connie Brewster.

Students will become proficient in the use of autoclaves, pH meters, balances, dispensing pumps, and will learn how to make the necessary calculations in determining concentrations of substances in the various media.

Required Job Qualifications

Current student at Colorado State University.

Student needs to be able to work at least ten hours per week.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Preferably first or second-year students with the interest and ability to continue working in the Prep Lab until they graduate from the university.
