Customer Service Rep - Haz Waste

This position is responsible for working directly with clients regarding business operations of the VLS Haz Waste division. Daily responsibilities are to coordinate transportation of waste loads into the facility for disposal and facilitate the creation and maintenance of waste streams into our system.

 

Job Duties:

• Manage work orders in VLS Haz Waste operating system from order to cash:
o Correspond with clients regarding scheduling of loads into the facility.
o Update pricing and work instructions in operation system using information provided by Operations.
o Coordinate transloading of railcars with transportation facilities and our sister site in Baytown.
o Connect with customers to ensure off-spec loads are properly handled when they arrive at the site, including acceptance, full- and partial-rejections.
o Review the paperwork after job completion to ensure everything is properly entered into the system before sending to accounting.
• Respond to customer inquiries on waste profiles, manifests, questions, etc.
• Audit and correct inbound manifests and work with accounting and environmental on off-spec billing and correcting of information.
• Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with Operations, account managers and clients on any off-spec loads and approval. As well as follow up on profile status, customer requests, customer history, re-certification and modification.
• Create and track waste streams for new customer wastes into our system, and ensure they are properly entered.
•Be a liaison between customers and internal departments.
• Ensure that all client and company policies are adhered to in the completion of the assigned projects.
• On call coverage rotation (every other week) after hours and weekends for scheduling loads or off-spec communication.
• Attends team and company meetings as needed.
• Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

• HS Diploma/GED
• College Education Preferred
• 3+ years’ related experience in client relations, project management, inside sales, or plant operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft word and excel.
• Knowledge of RCRA requirements or other federal regulatory requirements. (Preferred)
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and escalate as needed.
• Customer service oriented, excellent manners with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
