Digital Interpretive Resources Intern

Position Description: Intern will be researching, choosing images and writing additions to the Richmond History Timeline as well as researching and writing featured Richmond stories and Collections in the Classroom for our website. The position will aid the Valentine in continuing to develop digital resources for community use. The intern will be a part of a cohort of interns and will have the opportunity to explore other departments and museums on guided outings and tours. 

Through this internship the student will… 

  • Develop image metadata skills.
  •  Learn how to write for a specific purpose 
  • Develop research skills 
  • Create real resources for community use, and begin to build a portfolio of projects to enhance a resume 

Duties Include: 

Qualifications include: Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Recent graduates of 9 months or less may also apply. The Intern should possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Intern must be able to sit for long periods of time, lift objects up to 40 pounds, crouch, bend and reach. Experience with Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, Basic Image Manipulation is strongly preferred. 

Wage & Hours: Starting Mid-May or early June depending on student availability. Grant-funded stipend available in the amount of $1500.00 paid out upon completion of the internship. The internship will require a minimum of 150 hours of work in order to be considered completed. Flexible schedule, between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, approximately 10-20 hours per week.
