CTE Cooperative Education Coordinator

The job of CTE Cooperative Education Coordinator was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a coordinator with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the cooperative education program and student progress.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Determine student eligibility for cooperative education and apprenticeship programs.
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate co-op and apprenticeship sites for safety, learning outcomes, and training plan compliance.
  • Collaborate with vocational instructors to identify qualifying students, NOCTI concentrators, and complete student evaluations.
    Coordinate interviews, training plans, contracts, and ongoing student/employer communication.
  • Conduct job-site visits and organize efficient, recurring travel schedules.
  • Support NOCTI Pre-Test (fall) and Post-Test (spring) administration.
  • Maintain accurate records, evaluations, logs, and submit required monthly and statistical reports.
  • Lead recruitment efforts including presentations, materials management, and committee participation.
  • Coordinate additional school-to-work activities such as mentoring and job shadowing.
  • Support students by modeling professional behavior, enforcing discipline policies, reviewing codes of ethics, and making referrals when appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of child labor laws, capstone requirements, and current industry trends.
  • Adhere to all state, federal, DCIU, and DCTS policies/procedures; maintain confidentiality and respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.

Qualifications:

A Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Cooperative Education Add-On Certificate is required.  Candidates who do not currently hold this credential may be considered for an Emergency Permit under the following conditions:

  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Vocational or Career and Technical Education (CTE) Instructional I or II Certificate, including PDE certifications in Business, Health Occupations, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Information Technology, etc.
    • Candidates in this category must be able to successfully complete nine (9) credit hours of required coursework and pass the applicable Praxis, in accordance with PDE requirements
  • Candidates holding Pennsylvania Instructional Certification outside of Vocational or CTE areas:
    • Must be able to successfully complete eighteen (18) credit hours of required coursework and pass the applicable Praxis examination, in accordance with PDE requirements.
  • Bachelor's Degree in job related area
