City of Beloit Police Officers are responsible for ensuring the constitutional rights of all residents. Police Officers enforce the laws of the State of Wisconsin and the ordinances of the City of Beloit. Primarily, officers focus on the prevention of criminal activity and disorder in City of Beloit neighborhoods while providing day-to-day police service and engagement with the community.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Possession of a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
3. U.S. citizenship at time of hire.
3. 40 college level credits at time of application; 60 college level credits prior to completion of 5th year of employment as a law enforcement officer.
3. Must be a certified law enforcement officer with the State of Wisconsin or have the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire and maintain such certification, including required training or statutory requirements.
6. Must not have been convicted of a felony or crime of domestic violence unless granted an absolute and unconditional pardon. 
7. Must not have a conviction record or pending charge which substantially relates to the work of a law enforcement officer. 
8. Bilingual speaking candidates highly desired.

*Candidates who are already certified law enforcement officers should apply for the position titled Police Officer- Lateral Hire.

Starting Salary: $31.20 per hour

Alternative dates are NOT available. Candidates must be able to attend exercises on the dates below in order to continue in the recruitment process. Finalized locations will be clearly communicated to candidates.

March 21 or March 25, 2026: The City of Beloit will hold physical and written exams. Candidates may attend either date. 

 

March 28, 2026: Successful candidates will be invited to attend the Assessment Center and Chief's Interview. Candidates must be available for the entire day. An alternative date is NOT available.
