Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is seeking  an undergraduate student to serve as a fact checker intern on a part-time basis. The intern will assist with research and operations alongside CREW’s Fact-Checker. Intern will learn to use various sources of public information to conduct comprehensive review of CREW written content including investigations, graphics, reports and legal filings for accuracy, thoroughness and sourcing by analyzing text, recreating analyses and effectively working with project leads on areas of concern.

The ideal candidate will have some experience fact-checking and show interest in government ethics issues, including but not limited to dark money in politics, transparency, and democracy preservation. The candidate must also demonstrate a strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and be hard-working and resourceful. Preference will be given to candidates able to work 20 hours per week or more. This position is based in the DC metro area and will be a hybrid of remote and in-person (as needed). Therefore, the applicant must also be able to work independently and have self-motivation to complete tasks without supervision.  Students with an interest in government accountability and ethics are highly preferred. Interns will receive a stipend of $740 a month.
