Job Description
Program Duration
Our internship program runs approximately 40 hours per week, from June 1st through mid-August.
The Impact You Will Have
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is seeking an enthusiastic and curious intern to join our Women’s Health Product team. In this role, you will contribute to initiatives aimed at advancing maternal, infant, and women’s health outcomes across the full lifespan—from birth through older adulthood.
As the team broadens its focus to encompass the full spectrum of women’s health, you will support efforts to analyze population health trends across diverse age groups to help inform both current-state understanding and future strategy. This year’s primary priority is building our long‑term Women’s Health strategy, and you will play a key role through case study reviews, white paper research, and analytical support.
Ideal candidates bring interest or experience in population health, public health, clinical fields, or data analysis. A background in Public Health, Population Health, or related disciplines is strongly valued. Maternal and neonatal care (including NICU) is one important component of this work—viewed as a critical milestone within the broader continuum of women’s health
Your Responsibilities
Conduct data collection, validation, and analysis to support maternal health and NICU program evaluations, with a focus on opportunity identification and outcome measurement.
Research, synthesize, and summarize best practices for preventative campaigns and community‑based women’s health initiatives.
Translate complex data findings into clear insights, briefs, and recommendations to guide product strategy and decision-making.
Collaborate in a product team environment, contributing ideas during ideation sessions, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and bi‑weekly sprint demonstrations.
Work with the Product Owner to execute prioritized work items, leveraging analytical thinking to solve problems and propose effective solutions.
Perform heavy analysis using user-facing data platforms (no SQL required), supporting strategic evaluation and experience-driven insights.
Utilize advanced Excel skills—including pivot tables, run charts, and data extraction—to analyze and present information effectively.
Build dashboards or data visualizations using Tableau or Power BI, applying a solid foundational understanding of business intelligence tools.
