POLICE RECRUIT

 

Job Description

The Police Officer role is vital in maintaining the safety and security of the Midland community. Officers will engage in crime prevention, case investigations, and build community trust through proactive patrolling and communication. Candidates must be dedicated to upholding the law with the highest levels of integrity and professionalism. Strong decision-making and ethical practices are essential to successfully execute duties and protect citizens effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine patrols in assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activities.
  • Respond promptly to calls for assistance and emergency situations.
  • Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and document findings accurately.
  • Engage with the community to foster trust and address public safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and respect citizens' rights while enforcing legal measures.

Requirements

To be considered, preferred applicants should present the following:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be a United States citizen 
  • Normal hearing, with uncorrected hearing loss not exceeding moderate 
  • Valid Texas driver’s license at the time of employment 
  • For applicants with prior military or law enforcement experience, an honorable discharge is required. All other discharges will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 
  • GED holders must have at least 12 college credit hours from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.0 GPA. 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older 
  • Ability to pass the Department’s Physical Assessment Standards 
  • No felony convictions or Class B misdemeanors or higher in the past 10 years, and no domestic violence offenses. A clean record with no history of criminal or improper conduct or poor driving is required. 
  • Must meet all conditions necessary to obtain TCOLE Basic Peace Officer Certification
