Program Coordinator

Are you willing to radically love those around you?  Vagabond Missions is looking for a Program Coordinator ready to plan and execute ministry programs, helping a successful inner-city ministry reach even more hearts in the Mobile community.  Do you have a heart for Jesus, and want to make Him known? Program Coordinators are motivated to see the Gospel shared in the city they serve through direct discipleship with inner-city teens, program planning and execution, engaging with volunteers, empowering teens  or Underground alumni or peer leadership and deeper integration of the Catholic faith in their life.

The Purpose of Vagabond Missions:

To introduce inner-city youth to Jesus Christ and his Church through evangelization, outreach, and community building.  The VM missionary life is at its core, relational, as it is friendship and discipleship that are the primary conduits of the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the inner-city youth whom Vagabond Missions is privileged to serve.

Our Primary Task:

  • Love and serve youth where they are in life.
  • Encourage youth in developing their relationship to God.
  • Provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth.
  • Invite young people in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church.

Qualifications:

  1. A deep love for Jesus Christ and a passion for serving at-risk youth.
  2. Strong leadership, organizational, and relational skills.
  3. 3-5 years experience in youth ministry, discipleship, or program management preferred.
  4. Ability to fundraise and build donor relationships.
  5. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  6. Commitment to the mission and values of Vagabond Missions.

Responsibilities:

Program Planning and Execution:

  • Lead & oversee weekly programs: Breakout, bible study, Worship nights, High school clubs, tutoring, life skills clubs (or similar)
  • Plan and execute retreats, service projects, and special events throughout the year
  • Work with the Mentor & Discipleship Coordinator or Area Director to ensure every teen is paired with a mentor and that programs have sufficient volunteer

Youth Discipleship and Engagement:

  • Work weekly in direct discipleship with teens, focusing on personal spiritual growth and mentorship
  • Coordinate and mentor dedicated teens and/ or graduated teens to grow as peer leaders, helping them integrate their faith life more and grow in discipleship, responsibility and maturity

Volunteer Support:

  • Coordinate volunteer involvement in various programs

Fundraising and Budgeting:

  • Personally support raise portion of salary and communicate regularly with donors, utilizing the organization’s fundraising training and methodology to cultivate relationships
  • Support fundraising initiatives that directly fund program operations and expansion
  • Under the direction of the Area Director, be a good steward of the annual ministry budget by controlling expenditures to align with local vision

    • 12 days paid vacation
    • 10 days off between Christmas and New Years for the Christmas Respite

  • Option to obtain a MA in Theology from Franciscan University for 50% tuition
