Bankruptcy Attorney

Gudeman & Associates, P.C. is looking for an experienced bankruptcy attorney. 

Gudeman & Associates, P.C. is a boutique law firm that provides a range of business and personal legal services. Included in our portfolio of services are commercial & general litigation, business planning, succession planning, tax planning & resolution, estate planning, and business & consumer bankruptcy.

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Attorney to join our legal team, to ideally start immediately. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex bankruptcy cases, providing strategic legal counsel and support to clients navigating financial distress. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in various areas of law, including litigation, legal research, and drafting, with a passion for helping individuals and organizations find effective solutions during challenging times. This position is fully paid and provides a stimulating environment where your expertise can make a meaningful impact.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee bankruptcy proceedings, from case filing to discharge and case closing, including Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and some Chapter 11 filings, preparing Chapter 13 plans, handling adversaries within bankruptcy cases, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
• Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies and stay current on bankruptcy laws and regulations.
• Draft comprehensive legal documents, motions, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
• Meet with debtors and advise clients on debt restructuring, asset protection, and related legal matters.
• Attend in person bankruptcy hearings, when necessary
• Negotiate with creditors, trustees, and other parties to facilitate fair resolutions for clients.
• Assist in litigation processes related to bankruptcy disputes, including adversary proceedings.
• Collaborate with law office staff to maintain organized case files, manage deadlines, and ensure efficient workflow.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of bankruptcy law with specific experience filing Chapter 7s, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11s. 
• Strong negotiation skills to advocate effectively for clients’ interests.
• Proficiency in legal research platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to gather relevant case law and statutory information.
• Excellent legal drafting abilities with attention to detail in preparing pleadings and legal documents.
• Experience in litigation processes including courtroom procedures and dispute resolution.
• Familiarity with legal administrative practices within a law office setting.
• Exceptional writing skills combined with the ability to analyze complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
