Young Adults Pastor
Summary:
Develop and execute strategies for making disciples of young adults by building up those inside the church and reaching those outside the church. Providence Church currently has 800-1,000 young adults (18-35 single & married, 16 total Life Groups) in its faith family and young adults comprise a large population within the City of Raleigh. Due to the size of the ministry, this position must identify, develop and lead through multiple lay coaches and lay leaders to be effective in ministry.
Accountability:
Reports to Pastor of Adult Disciple-making
Responsibilities:
Building up those within the church
- Leadership Development – identify and develop ministry coaches and lay leaders who will help lead the Young Adults ministry.
- Work with existing Life Groups to improve their focus and alignment with the vision of Providence
- Work with Life Group teachers to equip them and improve the quality of their teaching
- Help existing Life Group leaders to develop new leaders and multiply their groups as the need arises
- Foster and promote discipleship relationships between young adults and older members of the congregation
- Identify, develop and give direction to a Young Adult Leadership Council as they plan events and gatherings for Young Adults
Reaching those outside the church
- Lead Young Adult Life groups to be communities on mission that engage the community through service and spiritual conversations
- Create opportunities for young adults in the city to connect with the Providence family through outreach-oriented events and gatherings
- Equip Young Adults to reach their neighbors by living like missionaries in the city
- Ensure meaningful follow-up and engagement of guests who visit Providence
- Mobilize Young Adults for national and international missions
Counseling
- Engage in regular counseling as needs arise
- Engage in pre-marital counseling and officiate weddings.
Qualifications:
Character
- Fulfill the Scriptural requirements and standards of an elder as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-17; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4
- Be a servant leader with vision.
- Publicly confess that he has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, Jesus died for his sins, God raised Jesus from the dead, and that His shed blood is the only hope for salvation and eternal life.
- Demonstrate in his life that he has been born again through evidence of a changed life and fruit of the Spirit of God.
Gifting
- Have strong people skills with a shepherd’s heart.
- Capacity to lead a diverse and gifted group of Young Adult Leaders.
- Give evidence of the spiritual gift of Pastor/Teacher through the ability and willingness to teach and communicate the Word of God in a clear, practical manner.
- Demonstrate skill in biblical counseling
