Human Resources Intern
Program Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join our HR team. This internship is designed for college juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. The role begins as a part-time position during the school year with the opportunity to transition to a full-time role during the summer. The HR Intern will gain hands-on experience and exposure to core HR functions, with a primary focus on payroll support, temporary employee management, and HR data reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to build foundational HR skills in a professional setting while contributing to meaningful HR operations.
What You'll Do
- As a HR Intern, you will:
- Payroll Support (Primary Area)
- Complete weekly and bi-weekly payroll preparation and processing.
- Review employee timecards and identify discrepancies for correction.
- Support auditing of payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll data and HR documents. Temporary Workforce & Agency Coordination
- Serve as the main point of contact for temporary staffing agencies.
- Track temporary employee assignments, schedules, and performance feedback.
- Coordinate onboarding for temporary employees, including paperwork and orientation support.
- Monitor agency invoices and assist with reconciliations. HR Reporting & Data Management
- Prepare and maintain regular HR reports (headcount, turnover, temporary labor metrics, etc.).
- Support data cleanup efforts in HRIS systems as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing HR records. General HR Support
- Support new hire onboarding and orientation processes.
- Assist with employee engagement activities or HR projects as assigned.
- Provide administrative support to the HR team (filing, document management, scheduling, etc.).
Qualifications
- We're seeking motivated students who are ready to learn, grow, and contribute:
- Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on 4.0 scale)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; comfort with learning new systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work part-time onsite either at our Whitewater, WI plant (10–20 hours/week) during the school year and full-time during the summer.
