R&D Laboratory Intern
JOB TITLE: R&D Laboratory Intern
DEPARTMENT: Research and Development
JOB DIMENSIONS
This internship position will support the research, development, and technical service efforts for current and new Arkema products. The intern will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments, generating, and interpreting experimental data, and communicating results to Scientists. This position requires direct laboratory work involving a variety of chemistry and/or materials science tools and methods. Work is performed in accordance with safe laboratory practices and with active participation in Arkema’s safety initiatives and programs.
ACTIVITIES
- Design and prepare laboratory experiments to synthesize and/or analyze new and existing molecules and materials
- Multitasks effectively and efficiently organizes routine work
- Evaluates and interprets generated data with supervision
- Maintains laboratory notebooks and appropriate records
- Writes technical reports and communicates results to supervisor
- Maintains safe laboratory practices and a strong commitment to Arkema safety culture
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
- Position is part of the U.S. subsidiary of a large, international chemical company.
- The position interacts with R&D staff at one of our R&D centers in King of Prussia, PA, Cary, NC, or Mulberry, FL.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Enrollment at an accredited college or university as a sophomore or above at time of assignment.
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in science/engineering (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred)
- Basic classroom laboratory experience
- Good organizational skills
- Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
