Position Overview
Dr. Alexis Merdjanoff is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Graduate Research Assistant to support an intervention project focused on increasing disaster resilience among older adults. The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting both the administrative and research components of the project and will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to advance grant-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
The Graduate Research Assistant will support a range of activities, including but not limited to:
Assisting with project administration, including maintaining project timelines, scheduling meetings, and developing meeting agendas
Supporting participant outreach and coordination efforts
Conducting literature reviews related to disaster preparedness, resilience, and aging populations
Assisting with data collection activities (e.g., surveys, interviews, or intervention-related data)
Supporting data management, cleaning, and preliminary analysis
Communicating regularly with the PI to support ongoing grant activities and project needs
Qualifications
Current graduate student in public health, social sciences, gerontology, emergency management, or a related field
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team
Experience with literature reviews, data collection, and/or data analysis preferred
Additional Information
This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in intervention research focused on disaster resilience and aging populations, while working closely with the PI in a collaborative research environment.
Supervisor will meet once a week to review job expectations.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions are $17-$18 per hour for undergraduate students and $30 per hour for graduate students. The hourly rate for graduate employees is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902.
