Bindery Operator

We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and motivated individuals to join our Fry Team! This is a hands-on position in which the incumbent will be trained to learn the operations of running a Binder.

Responsibilities/Duties 

  • Confirming the production schedule with the supervisor/scheduler; reading and thoroughly understanding the job jacket; verifying that all forms to be bound are present in the gatherer area or have been ordered; assuring that all crew members are working on the same job
  • Expeditiously setting the job up to attain the highest production speed possible while maintaining product quality; performing a Quality Control check-out on each job
  • Verifying that machine monitors are functioning properly; ordering set-ups in a timely manner to minimize slow-down time or time waiting for skids
  • Verifying that safety screens/guards are in place during production and that crew members are wearing the necessary protective safety devices; assuring that the finished product meets the job specifications
  • Once a job is completed, confirming that all distribution requirements have been met; maintaining accurate production logs in the AS 400 System; as required, preparing accurate shortage reports for jobs which are short
  • Keeping the work area clean and organized; performing regular maintenance on the binder and gatherer
  • Coordinating the crew efforts to enhance production; developing and maintaining teamwork to achieve quality and maximum productivity; requesting/providing training as needed to improve the efficiency of the crew
  • Keeping the supervisor informed of problems affecting production; and performing other related duties and following any other instructions as may be required by supervision
