Program Description:
Starwood Capital’s Internship Program is 9-weeks long and we select a group of highly motivated summer interns with the goal of identifying talent for our Full-time Analyst Program. Our size and structure provides individuals with a high level of responsibility and the unique opportunity to work directly with senior management, joint venture partners, investment bankers, brokers and commercial lenders in all real estate classes. Summer Interns will participate in a variety of specialized trainings that will refine their skills and assist them in transitioning into the professional working environment of Starwood and the investment industry as a whole. A mentorship driven program allows our Summer Interns to create lasting relationships that will support the continued growth of a successful career.
Responsibilities:
The Analyst will focus primarily on tracking and analyzing asset level performance, identifying operational concerns, executing strategic initiatives, and assisting with business plan development and implementation for the hotel asset management team.
- Drive hold/sell analyses by evaluating asset performance and quantifying upside potential against disposition value
- Conduct monthly P&L reviews to support asset managers in identifying notable trends, variances, and value add investment opportunities
- Review booking pace, STR reports, market segmentation and revenue management strategy to ensure topline goals are met
- Prepare summaries of key contracts and agreements including loan documents, HMAs, leases, etc.
- Model complex cash flows and partnership structures to report asset performance and deliver quarterly valuations to executive leadership
- Analyze competitive landscapes and market trends to contextualize asset performance and inform strategi positioning decisions
- Partner with operating teams to isolate performance drivers and create targeted action plans to execute sponsor investment thesis
- Assist with underwriting potential real estate and structured finance acquisitions
- Oversee capital improvement plans and collaborate on strategies to minimize potential revenue displacement
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Development and/or real estate cash flow modeling experience
- Strong quantitative and technical/computer skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint)
- A true self-starter capable of accomplishing complicated tasks with limited supervision
To be considered for the 2027 Summer Internship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student
- Anticipated graduation date: Fall 2027 – Spring 2028
