Communityworks Intern
Job Summary
College and University Students! We are seeking 8 motivated and dedicated paid summer Interns to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment while contributing to meaningful projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and an interest in learning about non-profit management, affordable housing, and community development. Interns will be placed with host organizations located throughout West Virginia. 10 week program - May 26th - July 31st.
Duties
- Assist in the implementation of support services for individuals in need.
- Collaborate with team members to provide resources and referrals related to housing, non-profit work, and community development.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development.
- Assist in day-to-day operations of your host organization.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvements.
- Collaborate with the intern cohort on a group project to be presented at the completion of the program.
Skills
- Familiarity with Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook or similar software.
- Skills in community outreach, building relationships with local residents, and understanding community needs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Organize tasks and track project progress toward deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting while also being self-motivated.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach towards individuals needing assistance with affordable housing.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking in project execution
This internship is designed for individuals eager to learn, grow, and make a positive impact within the community while gaining valuable experience in the field. Preference will be given to students in 300 - 400 level classes or attending graduate school. 3.0+ GPA required.
