Job Summary:

Lark Seeds International is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tomato Research 

Associate to join our tomato research and development team in Woodland, California.  The successful candidate will support a variety of activities crucial to plant breeding and variety development. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with sowing, planting and monitoring tomato research trials throughout the state

• Record and report accurate agronomic and phenotypic data

• Coordinate and assist the collection of samples for yield, chemistry, seed extraction and molecular marker testing

• Provide support for research projects, pollination and seed inventory management 

• Compile, analyze and report seasonal research results

• Collaborate with research staff to ensure smooth trial operations and project completion

• Other duties as required to support the research and development programs

 

Required Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in plant science, agronomy, horticulture, or related field 

• High attention to detail and ability to follow protocols

• Demonstrated time management skills with ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Strong computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and a general understanding of relational databases 

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Strong English communication skills, Spanish is an asset

• Ability to lift 30+ lbs and perform manual labor when needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience with vegetable breeding or plant research an asset

• Must have a valid California drivers license
