This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Faculty - Engineering who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for developing the course curriculum and teaching classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, or online courses.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Master’s Degree in Engineering.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering with 18 graduate hours in Math or Computer Science.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One (1) year of industry experience as an Engineer or post-secondary teaching experience in engineering.
Preferred: One (1) year of post-secondary teaching experience in engineering and supervisory experience including but not limited to managing budgets, inventories, ordering supplies, employee evaluations and team leadership.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Exhibit effective teaching in Engineering courses.
- Teach Engineering by incorporating high-impact teaching practices as well as learner-centered pedagogies with an emphasis on active learning strategies.
- Develop curriculum and prepare syllabus, keeping course content consistent with the catalog description.
- Develop on-line courses focused on student success.
- Demonstrate commitment to student success, innovation, collaboration and instructional quality.
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom/online instruction, direction projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
- Teach subject matter field in person and online.
- Assist with student registration and participate in recruitment activities.
- Serve on college committees.
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration and general policy.
- Attend faculty meetings, general assembly, and commencement.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

- Ability to use instructional aids in teaching (i.e. computer, multi-media, etc.)
- Ability to learn, or have experience in, online teaching.
- Ability to deliver active learning and learning centered pedagogies in the classroom.
- Excellent oral, written and listening skills, including computer skills sufficient for email, course development and course management.

Salary: Faculty Pay Information, please review the AC AY24 Faculty Salary Placement. (Salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
