Core Teacher at The Quad Manhattan
Core teachers at The Quad Manhattan Summer Program are trained by highly
developed experts in the fields of education and psychology through the spring session, leading to a rewarding and fun summer with twice-exceptional students, students who are gifted and also have learning differences. Only teachers with special education, gifted education, speech and language, social work, occupational therapy, psychology, and/or related field backgrounds may apply.
Core teachers plan and implement two psycho-social skill-building lessons per day that are adapted to meet the interests and needs of each student in their class. Class size is no more than ten children, and each group has at least three staff members: one core teacher and two psychosocial interns. All applicants must be available for 7 weeks full time work. There will be a few flexible training sessions before camp to prepare lessons and create materials, and part-time day and evening training in the two weeks prior to program start.
This position is ideal for candidates who are working in schools and have the
summers off, and have a curiosity and desire to learn more about the twice-exceptional population.
