Part-Time Contract Therapist (Pre-Licensed LPC Track)
Type: Independent Contractor (1099) | Part-time (8–20 hrs/week)
Location: Denver, CO; mix of in-person and telehealth expected
Compensation: $30–$35/hr based on experience, plus no-cost supervision for LPC licensure
Schedule: Primarily in-person with some remote work options. In-person services provided at our Clinic during business hours (M-F 9am-5pm); options for telehealth provision for clients with digital access both during and outside of regular business hours; attend required meetings

About the Role
Heartland Mental Health is looking for a warm, grounded, and committed pre-licensed therapist pursuing LPC licensure in Colorado. This is a unique opportunity to join a values driven team as a part-time contractor, providing therapy services to adult clients in a small, community-based setting—while receiving high-quality, no-cost clinical supervision hours toward licensure.
This role is ideal for someone excited to build clinical skills in a non-corporate environment, serve adults navigating complex mental health needs, and grow as part of a tight-knit, peer-centered team.

We’re a small but mighty community mental health center serving adults in the Capitol Hill area of Denver. Our clinic and drop-in center use trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practices to support members experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. What You’ll Do
Direct Clinical Services
• Provide clinical screenings, intake assessments, diagnoses, and individual therapy for adults with severe and persistent mental illness using evidence-based approaches. Providing case management services will be determined.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, grounded in their goals and strengths.
• Carry a caseload of 5-15 depending on your availability and success of collaborative member recruitment efforts
• Document sessions in a timely and ethical manner using our EHR system (Tebra)
• Participate in clinic team consultations and team meetings as required.
• Coordinate care with our in-house Nurse Practitioner, clinic team lead, and drop-in center staff
• Engage in supervision toward LPC licensure with our Clinic Team Lead (licensed LPC, will be scheduled Tues-Fri, 9am-7pm, can be in-person or virtual).
• Participate in billing administrative tasks as required
What You Bring to the Role – Must-Haves
• Master’s degree in counseling from an accredited program
• Currently registered with DORA in Colorado as a candidate for LPC licensure
• Able to commit to weekly supervision and client care for a minimum of 6 months
• Values-aligned with Heartland’s mission and culture: trauma-informed, client centered, equity-rooted
• Skilled in holding therapeutic space for clients navigating complex trauma, systems of oppression, and severe mental illness
• Comfortable managing a flexible, contractor-based schedule with personal accountability for documentation and care
Nice-to-Haves (But Not Dealbreakers)
• Experience using Tebra or other EHR systems
• Familiarity with Medicaid billing (not required - we'll train you)
• Bilingual in Spanish/English
• Prior experience working in community mental health, harm reduction, or with uninsured/underinsured clients
• Interest in group facilitation or co-leading community-based programming
