Electrical Engineering & Specifications Intern
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering & Specifications Intern to assist with the standardization of engineering specifications and to support our engineering team on real-world AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to professional electrical design, construction documentation, and engineering standards of development. The intern will work directly with licensed Professional Engineers and experienced designers, editing engineering specifications and contributing to active projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Review engineering specifications and compare them to the firm’s master specification.
- Use AI tools and SpecLink to analyze specification content and identify differences, omissions, and inconsistencies.
- Prepare clear, organized reports outlining differences between current specifications and the master specification for each section.
- Update and standardize content within SpecLink by incorporating approved changes into the master specification.
- Assist with electrical design and engineering on active projects, including lighting systems, power distribution, low-voltage systems and building electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project managers
- Work directly with licensed Professional Engineers in a collaborative design environment
- Utilize digital tools, specifications software, and design platforms to manage project documentation
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, digital documentation tools)
- Interest in AEC/building systems engineering
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Professional attitude and willingness to learn in a technical design setting
Preferred (Plus) Qualifications
- Experience with AEC projects
- Familiarity with SpecLink specification platform
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software
- Understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, etc.)
