Equine Management Internship - Fall 2026
The Kentucky Equine Management Internship (KEMI) is a non-profit corporation that coordinates internships for college students or recent college graduates on Thoroughbred horse farms in the Lexington, Kentucky area. These 20-22 week internships include housing and and hourly wage, weekly lectures/networking activities and focus on either the Spring Breeding Season or the Fall Sales, Marketing & Early Training Season.
Applicants should have at least basic horse-handling skills and be prepared to work a full-time (6 day a week job/8+ hours a day) job working with horses. This is a hands-on internship which includes routine barn chores including feeding, turning horses in & out, grooming, cleaning stalls, etc. You do not need to know how to ride to participate. This is not a riding position. Fall interns prepare yearlings for the monthly auctions. There may be some work with broodmares and weanlings as well.
We are happy to answer any questions about the internship: info@kemi.org
