The Role: Exploratory Intern
We’re looking for an Exploratory Intern—a “no-experience needed” role designed specifically for freshman and sophomore college students who are curious about startups, product development, and education technology.
You’ll help us improve CollegeAppAssist by sharing feedback, testing features, and learning how real software products are built and improved. You’ll get exposure to product, data, and startup decision-making in a low-pressure, supportive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work closely with our small team on early-stage, hands-on tasks such as:
- Providing feedback on product features, usability, and overall experience
- Testing workflows and identifying confusing or broken parts of the application process
- Reviewing basic user engagement data to understand how students use the platform
- Conducting light research on competitors or similar tools students use
- Sharing insights from your own college application experience
- Helping brainstorm ideas to simplify applications even further
- Occasionally creating short summaries, notes, or simple reports of your findings
- This role is flexible and will adapt to your interests — whether that’s product, data, UX, marketing, or startups in general.
What We’re Looking For
We’re not expecting prior internship experience. Ideal candidates are:
- Freshman or sophomore college students
- Curious, thoughtful, and willing to share honest feedback
- Comfortable learning new tools (Google Sheets, Notion, basic analytics, etc.)
- Able to work 10–20 hours/week remotely, on an async schedule
- Interested in one of the following areas: business, computer science, data, design, psychology, product management, or user research.
Why Join Us
- Paid internship (stipend based on commitment and experience)
- Fully remote and async-friendly
- Low-pressure, exploratory role built for underclassmen
- Real exposure to how an early-stage startup works
- Direct influence on a real product used by students
- A strong resume and portfolio experience early in college
- Free Pro subscription to CollegeAppAssist
